How finding work on ReadyHands works

Create your ReadyHands profile
Your profile replaces a CV. Add your name, a photo, the area you live in and a short description of the kind of work you are happy to do.
You also add your skills, any experience you have and when you are usually free. You can change all of this at any time.
Verify your identity
Identity checks confirm you are a real person. Verified workers stand out, get chosen more often and help keep everyone on ReadyHands safe.
Your documents are never shown to hirers — only your verified badge is.
Add skills and qualifications
Pick the roles you can do from the ReadyHands categories. Add more than one — you are never limited to a single occupation.
Some jobs need specific experience, a certificate or a qualification (for example a licence or a food hygiene certificate). Adding yours means you can apply for that work.
Find work near you
Find work shows opportunities close to you. Set your area and how far you are willing to travel, and the feed prioritises work nearby.
You can also search by role, skill or area, and set a minimum pay so you only see work worth your time.
Choose the right type of work
All four types live in the same Find work feed. Here is how they differ:
⚡ Urgent / Needed now
Someone needs help very soon — often within a few hours or the same day. Great if you are free right now.
Example: a café needs an extra pair of hands for tonight's shift.
Quick tasks
Everyday, one-off jobs that are usually finished in one visit.
Example: gardening, dog walking, moving furniture, a delivery or clearing a garage.
Temporary work
One shift, several shifts, a few days or a limited period with an end date. The first paid shift uses First-Shift Confirmation, then you and the hirer both confirm whether it continues.
Example: two weeks of warehouse cover over a busy period.
Part-time work
An ongoing job with fewer hours or days each week. It is a normal job from day one.
Example: three evenings a week in a kitchen.
Full-time work
An ongoing full-time job. Also a normal job from day one.
Example: a permanent full-time driving role.
Apply for work
Before you apply you can see:
- the approximate location and how far it is from you
- the pay offered and how it is worked out
- the date, start time and how long it should take
- the work type and anything you need, such as a certificate
Applying takes seconds. There is no CV — you confirm you are available, say when you can arrive and add a short message.
Get accepted
The person or business posting the work compares applicants and chooses someone. If that is you, you get a notification and the job is confirmed.
Only then is the exact address shared with you — it is never shown publicly.
Communication
Messaging happens inside ReadyHands, so you never need to share your personal phone number or email.
Use it to confirm parking, entrances, what to bring or anything else before you set off. Keeping messages here also means there is a record of what was agreed.
Complete the work and get paid
Turn up at the agreed time and do the work. The pay was agreed before you applied, so there is nothing to negotiate on the day.
When the work is marked complete, payment is released to you through ReadyHands. You can follow the status at every stage in your account.
Reviews
After the work is finished, both sides can leave a review. Good reviews build your reputation and make hirers far more likely to choose you next time.
